About 1,700 Flats Surrendered To HDB In Last 5 Years, Says MND
Approximately 1,700 flats were surrendered to the HDB in the former five years, said SM of MND Sim Ann in Parliament on 2March.
Among these, close to 50% were two room units, 1/6 were 3 room public housing, and also 1/3 were four room or larger units, she revealed.
Sim generated the report in reply to MP Gan Thiam Poh’s inquiry on the number of HDB flats resold to HDB, the reason the flats were re-selled and also if HDB may look at offering such units on its open reservation process.
Sim noted that approximately 1,000 of the submitted units happen to be on short-term contract and makes up small apartment, 2 room Flexi public housing acquired on a brief lease along with units that property owners opted for LBS.
” Homeowners of short-term contract flats who no more desired to keep their public housing or who had already turned out unequipped to complete so, are needed to submit their units to Housing and Development Board. They are not allowed to promote these public housing on the common market,” she said.
The further seven hundred public housing were submitted mostly as a result of modifications in the conditions of the property owners in their MOP. Such owners were not allowed to sell their HDB flats on the market as these people had not at all met their MOP.
” Some of the most regular factors for cessation of public housing were divorce, separation of fiancé-fiancée relationship, and recall of matrimony,” claimed Sim
HDB makes up property owners of surrendered public housing and even sells them via the SBF exercises.
“If the flats remain untaken following the SBF activity, they may then be given in the open up reservation,” included Sim.
